Texas DB Deon Beasley Reinstated by NCAA

In a surprise announcement, the NCAA has cleared Texas Longhorns’ defensive back Deon Beasley to play this season, after he appealed his academic suspension for lack of progress against his degree. While Beasley had been able to practice with the team, he was ineligible to play in the ‘Horns first two games. The timing is critical, as Texas faces a stout Texas Tech passing attack this weekend, and Beasley will add experience and depth as defensive coordinator Will Muschamp will probably look to run nickel and dime defenses most of the afternoon.

The other two suspended ‘Horns, wide receiver Brandon Collins and safety Christian Scott, are still waiting on decisions on their appeals.
