As we work our way through the 2009-2010 college football season, Eyes Of TX has selected some video clips of the best or most game- or season-changing Big 12 moments so far this year.
Texas Longhorns Pre-Game Entrance
The Longhorns – and Athletic Director Deloss Dodds – have been putting boatloads of money in the ‘Horns Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium over the past 5 years. In addition to the new field turf and the North End Zone additions, the biggest attraction – literally – has been the Godzillatron. This video highlights the Longhorns entrance – via pre-game video theatrics – to the stadium on game day. Chills anyone?
Iowa State Cyclones Locker Room Post-Game v. #15 Nebraska Cornhuskers
What a sweet victory for Paul Rhoads and his Cyclones. In a huge victory in Lincoln by the score of 9-7, Iowa State showcased defense and the willingness to play a tough four quarters of football in a hostile environment. If you watched the broadcast of the game, you saw Rhoads going nuts with the ISU fans after the game, and then there was this. Eyes Of TX likes Rhoads because is emotional and has a passion for his players and the game. With more victories like this one, the Cyclones are sure to climb out of the cellar of the Big 12’s North division. Congrats to Cyclones.
Nebraska Cornhuskers’ Comeback v. Missouri Tigers
In a near monsoon in Columbia, Missouri, the Nebraska Cornhuskers fought off an early charge from the Tigers to win going-away in the fourth quarter. This game – absolutely dominated by Nebraska’s stud defensive tackle N. Suh – was an absolute mess, but the Huskers found a way to win it in the end.
ou QB Sam Bradford Injured Against BYU & Texas
Coming off a Heisman Trophy season in 2008, this definitely wasn’t what sooner fans, or Sam Bradford, had in mind. To end the first half of the BYU game – which ended up as an early season loss – Bradford was leveled twice on the same drive, with the second hit spraining the AC joint in his right, throwing arm. After several weeks recovery, Bradford returned for the Red River Rivalry game against Texas, only to be injured again (the same shoulder) in the team’s second offensive series. Now, Bradford’s elected surgery, and will be out the rest of the season.
Texas Longhorns Sergio Kindle’s Sack on Texas Tech QB Taylor Potts
Texas defensive end replacement for NFL-bound Brian Orakpo is none other than Sergio Kindle. On this night in September, Texas Tech QB Taylor Potts met Kindle in the backfield, and it was no wonder who won the battle. Potts was sacked, his helmet jarred loose, and he trekked off the field with what would later be determined to be a concussion. One of the bigger hits on an opposing QB this year for the Longhorns, and the beginning of “The Goon Squad,” from which the Texas defense has injured three other opposing QBs since.
