Longhorn Men Defeat Western Carolina, 73-41
The Texas Longhorns men’s basketball team made another statement for their #3 national ranking on Wednesday night, as they defeated the Western Carolina Catamounts, 73-41. Once again, the defense looked up to head coach Rick Barnes’ standards, and some of the freshman nerves the fans saw in game one took a back burner in the ‘Horns second game of the season.
Check out the highlight reel that was Wednesday night at The Drum, in particular freshman guard Avery Bradley’s drive-and-dunk about 25 seconds in to the video:
Lady ‘Horns Rolled by UConn
In what will likely be their first appearance in San Antonio, Texas, this year (the Women’s Final Four will be on the Riverwalk come April), the UConn Huskies beat down the #10/#13 Longhorns in front of a Texas “home” crowd with relative ease on Tuesday night. The final score, 83-58, isn’t even close to the debacle that ensued on the court, as Texas was outworked and outplayed all night. While the Lady ‘Horns will be a solid team in the Big 12 Conference this season, they still need to mature their talent before they compete on the national stage.
